How to make sure your signers get the right message, every time!
Definitions
There are two basic types of scripts in SecureClose – Summary Scripts and Detail Scripts. In SecureClose, V3, the purpose of the platform is to provide an easy-to-use system for a signer to view, read, and sign their document. The onus of responsibility is on the Signer to make sure they read the document and agree to it before they sign it, while the Avatar is there to help guide them as they do so. What should your signer know about a document to confidently sign it? In any Avatar Explanation Script, you DO NOT want to read what is written on the page to the signer verbatim; rather, focus on talking them through the document as if you were sitting in the room with them while they signed a paper version.
- Summary: The most common script used in SecureClose V3 is a Summary Script. The intent of this script is to provide your signer with a concise, easy-to-understand overview of what the document is and what they are agreeing to by signing it.
- Detail: A detail script goes into specifics on a particular section of the document, rather than the document as a whole. You can use these scripts in combination as well.
Example
In our Retail Installment Contract Script, we provide a document Summary and many Detail sections. When providing a Document Script to SecureClose for Programming, please use the format below, where you define whether the script section applies to the document as a whole, or a particular section of the document, and do your best to explain to us where that section is.
Summary (Top of the Document)
This is the Retail Installment Contract, which is the binding agreement between yourself and our dealership that covers all the specifics about your vehicle purchase today and the financial commitments you are making. Please read through this document carefully so that you understand what you are agreeing to when you sign it. Take as much time as you need to read through this contract and let us know if you are unsure of any of the information before you sign it. It is also important that you understand and acknowledge that the verbal summary presentation delivered by the Avatar does not take the place of your thoroughly reading the Contract and making sure you understand its content.
Detail (Identifying Parties Section – First Page, 3rd Paragraph from the Top)
This section identifies the buyer, co-buyer, if any, and the dealership that is selling you the vehicle.
Detail (Promise to Pay Section – First Page, 5th Paragraph from the Top)
The Promise to Pay section states that by signing this Contract, the buyer and any co-buyer are choosing to purchase the vehicle described below, as well as agreeing to the terms of the credit being extended. It states that buyer and any co-buyer are agreeing to make payments according to the Payment Schedule that appears below.
SecureClose Standard Script Library
As part of our setup process, SecureClose offers a Standard Script Library to all our clients, and we can program these Avatar scripts onto your documents as requested. These scripts have been written by and are regularly reviewed by our friends at Ignite Consulting Partners to ensure that they are up-to-date and cover as many important aspects of the documents they apply to as possible. Remember, these scripts are provided as a courtesy, and you should still have your legal counsel or compliance officer review them before using them in your signings. You are also free to make any edits or additions to these scripts as you would like, but in doing so, they can no longer be billed as reviewed by Ignite.
